Ultimate Free Choice by Alexander Hermann

This is a quick trick review meaning it will be short and sweet!

Inspired by David Regal's fantastic card trick with a trashcan, Alexander brought that premise to the close up realm.

Essentially, the spectators keep eliminating cards until they're down to one and the performer reveals that they have a duplicate of that card in their pocket. As they remove the card from their pocket, some other cards are accidentally seen. As a kicker, all of the cards are removed from the pocket and they all match the card selected.

Alexander's handling is very clever and clean. The spectator gets genuine free choices along the way. Sometimes you will need to do some equivoque, but the true free choices help to hide the few times you may need equivoque.

The pocket idea is a clever way to really sell the idea that there is only one card possible, but if you want something more practical, they also provide a special envelope that you could bring out at the start instead.

The routine is easy to do and fun in a jazzy sort of way. It is easy to get into it with a normal deck. My one quip is that it seems like the perfect routine for a magazine or book or larger download. I think releasing it as a stand alone product is a little unnecessary, especially for $25. $15 feels like a more fair price for what you get, but that's a moot point and doesn't take away from the strength of the routine.
